1st Snow Storm of the New Year

Grandpa Jones flew up last Friday afternoon and spent the weekend with us. A snow storm headed our way that night and it snowed until Saturday afternoon! The kids had a blast playing outside and the weather cleared up just in time for Grandpa Jones to fly home.

WOW! Another wonderful year has flown bye. The end of 2011 was filled with fun family times and visitors! Grammy flew up at the end of October and spent an enjoyable weekend with us. Grandpa Gelo and Peggy drove over and visited with us at the beginning of November and Grandma flew up at the beginning of December. Kevin did it again and won another trip from his company! We had the opportunity to spend 4 full days in the Bahamas and stay at Atlantis at beginning of December (photos below) while Grandma held things together at the home front with Brady and Taylor. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Aunt Kelley and Uncle Jon’s baby boy and we hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! Happy New Year:)

We have been pretty busy since Brady started school at the beginning of September. Brady LOVES School and we have already been on two field trips! Our first trip was to Dubois Farm to pick apples. Last Friday we went to Hahn’s Farm and pumpkin patch.
Grandpa Jones flew up for a fun visit at the beginning of October and Kevin’s best friend and college roommate, Dave, spent this past weekend with us.

We had a fun weekend with Grandpa Jones. Saturday night we went to a Hudson Valley Renegades Baseball game and they won 4-3! After the game we saw an incredible fireworks show. We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing and hanging out by the pool.

Grandma flew up and spent a fun filled week with us! We spent most of our mornings walking the Mid-Hudson walkway bridge and the majority of our afternoons hanging by the pool.

We opened our pool last week and we had an awesome holiday weekend with tons of time spent pool side:) On Saturday we went to Taylor’s girlfriend’s birthday party and then we had our neighbors over for a get together Sunday afternoon. At the beginning of the month we headed over to Mass and spent the weekend with Grandpa Gelo and Peggy. It was opening day at the Musketaquid club on Sunday, May 1st and we did the modified Boundary walk around the club lake and then Brady was a contestant in the fishing derby!

Our very good friends Christy, Dave and Miss Paisley flew up from Florida and spent this past weekend with us. We had a blast watching the kids play together and it was wonderful catching up!

Grandpa Jones flew up to spend Easter weekend with us. Even though we had a lot of April rain showers we had a fun weekend spending time together coloring and decorating eggs, eating yummy food and playing outside in between rain showers.

Our vacation started out with a drive down to Fort Mill, SC to visit Grandpa Jones and Great Granny Jones. Aunt Kelley and Uncle Jon flew up from FL and our Cousins Christy, Kevin, Devin and Erin also meet up with us there from Alabama.

Our next stop was Mt. Pleasant, SC to see and spend time with Grammy and David! We could not have asked for more wonderful weather the entire time we were away. To break up our long journey home we stayed two nights in Williamsburg, VA at an indoor water park. The kids had a BLAST and we are so glad we were able to see and spend this vacation visiting with our family!

Kevin has been in Phoenix since Friday for Regional meetings. Last night was the company’s award banquet for the top performers of the 2010 fiscal year. We are so proud and ecstatic that out of 40 Districts within the company Kevin was awarded the Top District of the company award for 2010!

We have been enjoying all our snow thus far this winter. Since the holiday’s we have been previewing Pre Schools for Brady. He will be starting school next fall! Miss Taylor has become quite mobile these days. She is just about crawling and she had her first two teeth come in over the weekend. We wish you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

2011 is almost here...WOW! Can't believe how quickly 2010 flew by. It was a GREAT year and we are looking forward to 2011!

The Christmas Holiday was good to us. Grandpa Jones, Aunt Kelley and Uncle Jon flew up for a visit the weekend before Christmas and Grandpa Gelo and Peggy drove over Christmas Eve to spend the Holiday weekend with us. It was good to have lots of family around for the Holiday!

The day after Christmas we had the first snowstorm in our new home. We got about a foot of snow and Brady LOVES to play in it:) Taylor had some fun playing in it too! We'd like to show you some pictures of the snowman he built but he destroyed it before we had a chance!

Our trip to Maui!

Aloha all! So after a year of hard work and GREAT results, Kevin won a trip to Maui, Hawaii! We had an awesome time. We saw some amazing things, met up with great friends and had just a few Mai Tai's. This was a much needed trip for both of us and we couldn't have gone to a more relaxing beautiful spot. Looking forward to winning the trip again next year!

Grandma and Grandpa Jerry drove all the way from Florida to New York to stay with Brady and Taylor while we were away. With Grandma chasing the kids around all day and Grandpa Jerry working "the chores" list we left him, I'd say they looked pretty exhausted by the time we finally got home! We cannot thank them enough for their generosity and hope they will come again the next time we win the trip!

My sister and I went to high school with the Groom and about 10 years ago Kevin was his boss while working at Johnny Rockets. Grandma's Last Weekend in NY

Grandma had to fly back to Florida last Wednesday. Since Taylor arrived early Grandma ended up staying with us for three and a half weeks. Jerry surprised Grandma by flying up here the Sunday before she had to return home. In the two full days that Jerry was up here he did a TON of work around the house. He even drilled the holes on our deck for our child safety fence to go up around our pool. It was so hard and sad to say goodbye to them and we appreciate all the help and hard work while they were here. We Love and Miss you guys!

Taylor Ann Gelo

Taylor Ann decided to arrive early. She made her entrance into this world last Monday night, 7/5/10 at 11:24 pm weighing 6 lbs, 8 oz's. She is a very relaxed and good natured baby. Grandma and Kelley scrambled to fly up here at the last minute from Florida and they arrived 15 minutes after Taylor was born. Brady met his sister Tuesday morning and continues to say..."She's Cute!" He loves holding her and kissing her soft tiny head.

What a busy weekend...Grandpa Jones flew up to help us spend the weekend moving. The big moving day was Sunday the 4th and we were done unloading the truck by 1pm. We were able to spend the majority of the afternoon grilling out and relaxing by the pool.

It was wonderful to have a full day of family time. Since spring has arrived Kevin has been working 6 days a week. Our day started out with relaxing around the house in the morning and then the boys took me to a neat restaurant for a delicious mid day brunch! For dinner they prepared an incredible Filet dinner and I even got a foot massage. I wish Mother's day was once a month.

Last night Brady got to see "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!" The day started out with lunch at Hooters and then we drove down to Newark, NJ to see the Circus at the Prudential Center, home of the NJ Devils. Brady was a good little boy, he got antsy at times but was mostly mesmerized by the Elephants, Tigers, Clowns and his new $22 fricken light up toy! $15 for parking, $7 for a box of popcorn, $4 waters etc etc...man this night set us back a few bucks. Going to the Circus is expensive but it was worth it for our Little Buddy! We all had a GREAT time:)

Christmas and New Years in Florida

We had a fantastic time in Florida! We flew down on Wednesday the 23rd and stayed in Tampa until the day after Christmas. On Saturday the 26th we drove up to Jacksonville and spent the weekend with Uncle Dave, Aunt Michele, Ashley, Zac, Grammy and David. It was such a blast watching the cousins play together and spending time with the family. On Monday the 28th we headed to Orlando and met up with the Prenner Family. That evening we had a yummy dinner at Aunt Jenny, Uncle Jim, Kendra and Tyler’s house. We spent the rest of the week in Tampa visiting with family and friends.

Christmas day Jerry proposed to Grandma Jones. We are so thrilled about Jerry officially becoming part of the family and we will be flying back down to Florida in April for their wedding!

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and 2010 is going to be a VERY exciting year for us!!!

Santa made an early appearance at our house this year knowing that Brady will be in Florida for the Holidays. What a fun but hectic month we have had so far. We are finally prepped and ready for Halloween! Last weekend we went to a local Pumpkin Patch and Brady picked out his first pumpkin. After searching high and low for the right Halloween costume for Brady that we all agree on we finally found “THE ONE!” This will be Brady’s first Halloween going Trick-OR-Treating. Last Friday evening we headed over to MA to spend the weekend with Kevin's cousins. The kids had such a fun time playing together! On Saturday we went to Plymouth and then we spent a few hours at Aunt Sue and Greg's house. Aunt Maureen drove over to Lauren and Chick's house Sunday morning to spend time with us before we had to head home. It was so wonderful to see everyone and Baby Donny is such a cutie pie:)

Labor Day Weekend

Since we have had perfect camping weather the past week and Kevin had Labor day off work we decided to pack up the truck and head to the Catskill mountains early Saturday morning! We went to Thompson’s Lake State Park which is only an hour and a half north of where we live. The campground is located on a beautiful lake and the camp sites are very secluded. There was also a very cool playground for Brady to play on down by the beach area on the camp ground property and we ended up renting a boat for a few hours on Sunday.

We had such a fun weekend! Grandpa Jones flew up last Thursday afternoon to help celebrate Brady’s birthday with us. Thursday night we got a surprised phone call from Aunt Kelley and Uncle Jon! They called to let us know that they would be flying up the following morning! The Gelo Family Birthday Bash took place Friday night and we are so grateful that our family was able to be apart of celebrating Brady’s birthday with us!

New Hampshire

Last week we drove up to Laconia, New Hampshire for our summer family Vacation! We stayed in a cottage one mile away from Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee. Grandpa Gelo and Peggy drove up from Massachusetts and joined us for the first two and a half days. We had an unbelievable time and we even got to do quite a bit of relaxing on the beach!

While we were on vacation one of our very good friends, John Summers, met up with us for dinner. We even had the opportunity to drive up Mount Washington on Kevin‘s Birthday!

For the past several weeks Brady has been very interested in sitting on his Potty. Yesterday afternoon we had a party in the bathroom with Popsicles and refreshments. Brady did not have any success on the Potty yesterday but he has already gone #1 three times on the Regular Potty this morning! We are VERY proud of him!!!

High Five for Grandpa

We had a fun weekend with Grandpa Jones! He flew up on Friday afternoon and got to our house just in time to take a walk along side the Hudson river and then we headed to the classic car show. Kevin had to work Saturday morning for a few hours so Brady and I took Grandpa to the Forsyth Nature Center and then we went to the park. Saturday evening Grandpa took us all out to dinner for a yummy lobster meal at the Mariner’s Harbor Seafood Restaurant in Kingston. On Sunday we went to West Point Military Academy. We were able to drive around the campus and get onto the base since Grandpa Jones is retired military. Sunday afternoon we came back to the house and Kevin made some scrumptious Gelo style chicken wings and hamburgers. Grandpa had to fly back home on Monday morning. Since it was so beautiful out we went back to Forsyth Nature Center and Brady enjoyed showing Daddy all of his favorite animals.

On Saturday we had our first hot Spring day and Grammy took us out for a delicious dinner that evening. We had a very low key and relaxing Easter weekend. It rained on and off all day on Saturday and it was pretty chilly out so we ran errands in the morning and stayed indoors for most of the afternoon. Last Friday night Jenny, Jim, Kendra and Tyler flew up to NY to spend the weekend with us! We had a wonderful time visiting with them and the kids had a blast playing together. This morning we dropped them off at the train station in Poughkeepsie and they will be spending a few days in NY city. Grandpa Jones Spent the Weekend With Us

Last Friday afternoon Grandpa Jones flew up to NY to spend the weekend with Brady and me. Unfortunately, Kevin had to spend this past weekend in Rochester, NY. There was a big home show convention there and he was in charge of setting up a booth and running it for his company along with a few of his store managers. Brady and I had a great time with Grandpa Jones and we look forward to his next visit!

Our visit with Grandma Jones & Aunt Kelley

Grandma Jones flew up to see us last Tuesday and Aunt Kelley flew up last Friday. We had a great time visiting with them! Unfortunately, a cold front came our way last Friday and it has been really chilly up until today. It was so sad to say goodbye when I dropped them off at the airport yesterday morning but I know we will all get together again very soon!

Corey will be Missed

I am so saddened to say that we had a terrible loss in our family. My 19 year old Cousin, Corey Shane Jones, passed away. I traveled to Florida and then drove up to Dothan, Alabama with my little sister and brother In-Law on Tuesday for the services. While it was such a terrible event it was touching as there seemed to be over 700 people at the viewing. It was obvious that Corey was dearly loved by so many. He will be greatly missed. It has been quite an emotional couple of days but I am so grateful that I was able to be with my family.

Last Saturday we took Brady to his girlfriends birthday party. The party was at a Gymnasium and the adults may have had a little bit more fun than the kids! On Sunday we set up the bounce house that Uncle Dave and Aunt Michele gave us. Brady and his girlfriend had so much fun playing in it.

On Saturday we went to a Mardi Gras festival in downtown Kingston. It was a beautiful day and we got to check out some amazing ice sculptures, funny clowns and wonderful jugglers!

Super Easy Chicken

4 Frozen Chicken Breasts
1 Package of DRY Italian Dressing Mix
1 Cup of Warm Water or Chicken Stock

1. Place chicken in slow cooker. Sprinkle with dry dressing mix. Pour water or chicken stock over chicken. (We use the chicken stock for extra flavor.)
2. Cover & cook on Low 8-10 hours. You can even add your favorite frozen veggies!

Brady enjoyed opening & reading his Valentine cards this year!

Our neighbors watched Brady for us Saturday evening so we went to an awesome Tapas restaurant in New Paltz for dinner. We had a few cocktails before dinner at a neat Irish bar. It is so funny how you look forward to "Alone Time" with your significant other but when you get the opportunity to have a night out you talk about your little one the majority of the evening. We hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's weekend!!!

Cuddle Time with Daddy

We are extremely excited about the next couple of months! Grandma Jones will be coming up to visit us mid March for a whole week and Aunt Kelley will also be coming up over a 4 day period while Grandma Jones is here. Grandpa Jones will be coming up the last weekend of March and then Aunt Jenny, Uncle Jim, Kendra and Tyler will be coming up the first weekend in April to spend several days with us!

The weather has been much warmer this weekend. The high has been in the low forties and some of the snow has melted away. We still have about 4 inches on the ground. The past month and a half Kevin has been doing a lot of traveling with his job. He is currently out in Phoenix for Regional Meetings and he flies back home late Monday night. Once he is home from this trip he will not have to go out to Phoenix again until late Spring, early Summer. Two weeks ago I started babysitting a five month old baby boy. His name is Jude and I watch him every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Brady enjoys his company and plays very well with him.

Brady is such a character! He is growing up so fast and he is such a busy and happy little guy. He has completely mastered saying HI and BYE along with a huge wave. He has about 10 words total that he says very clear. He loves to give and blow kisses and he even tackles Stew every chance he gets. Each day that passes he is more and more into books and puzzles. He is even becoming quite the cuddlier. We miss you all very much and we are in the works of trying to plan our family vacation for this year!

Savory Pork Roast

4-5 lb. Pork Loin Roast
1 Onion sliced
1-3 Bay Leafs
2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder

1. Place roast & onion in slow cooker. Add the bay leafs, soy sauce and garlic powder.
2. Cover. Cook on High 1 hour and then on Low 6 hours.
3. Slice, serve & Enjoy!!!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops & Mushrooms

4 boneless pork chops
2 medium onions, sliced
4-oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1/4 cup water
10 3/4-oz can golden cream of mushroom soup

1. Place pork chops in greased slow cooker. Top with onions and mushrooms
2. Combine soup mix, water and mushroom soup. Pour over mushrooms
3. Cover. Cook on Low 6-8 hours.

A Yummy South Beach Diet Recipe

We bought a new cookbook....The South Beach Diet Quick & Easy Cookbook by Arthur Agatston, MD. There are some awesome tasty and simple recipes in our new book which helps make this diet much easier. Below is a wonderful recipe for Stuffed Baked Tomatoes!

4 plum tomatoes, halved lengthwise
10-15 button mushrooms finley chopped
3 ounces shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese (1/2 cup)
1/4 cup roughly chopped fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tablespoon of shallots
Dash of Thyme
Cooking Wine
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Scoop out the inside of each tomato half and roughly chop the scooped pulp. Heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium to high heat. Add your mushrooms, minced garlic and shallots. 2-4 minutes later add your cooking wine. Once mushrooms appear to be sauteed add the rest of the ingredients, except for the cheese, for only a few minutes & then turn the heat off.

Place tomatoes, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Add cheese to mixture and then spoon in tomato mixture and bake until cheese is melted and lightly browned, about 10 minutes.
